Jefferson National Expansion Memorial

Now i wanna sharing about unique architecture around the world...

and this is Jefferson National Expansion Memorial park.

The Jefferson National Expansion Memorial is a park located in St. Louis Missouri, near the starting point of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. It was designated as a National Memorial by Executive Order 7523, on December 21, 1935, and is maintained by the National Park Service (NPS).

The park was established to commemorate:

The Louisiana Purchase, and the subsequent westward movement of American explorers and pioneers;

The first civil government west of the Mississippi River; and

The debate over slavery raised by the Dred Scott case.

The memorial consists of a 91-acre (36.8 ha) park along the Mississippi River on the site of the earliest buildings of St. Louis; the Old Courthouse, a former state and federal courthouse that saw the origins of the Dred Scottcase; the 45,000 sq ft (4,200 m2) Museum of Westward Expansion; and most notably the Gateway Arch, a steelcatenary arch that has become the definitive icon of the city.

The Gateway Arch

The Gateway Arch, known as the "Gateway to the West", is the tallest structure in Missouri. It was designed by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen and structural engineer Hannskarl Bandel in 1947 and built between 1963 and October 1965. It stands 630 feet (192 m) tall and 630 feet (192 m) wide at its base. The legs are 54 feet (16.5 m) wide at the base, narrowing to 17 feet (5.2 m) at the arch. There is a unique tram system to carry passengers to the observation room at the top of the arch.

Old Courthouse

The Old Courthouse is built on land originally deeded by St. Louis founder Auguste Chouteau. It marks the location over which the arch reaches. Its dome was built during the American Civil War and is similar to the dome on the United States Capitol which was also built during the Civil War. It was the site of the local trials in the Dred Scott case.

The courthouse is the only portion of the memorial west of Interstate 44. To the west of the Old Courthouse is a Greenway between Market and Chestnut Streets which is only interrupted by the Civil Courts Building which features a pyramid model of the Mausoleum of Mausolus (which was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World) on its roof. When the Civil Courts building was built in the 1920s, the Chouteau family sued to regain the property belonging to the Old Courthouse because it had been deeded in perpetuity to be a courthouse.

Museum of Westward Expansion

Underneath the Arch is a visitor center, entered from a descending outdoor ramp starting at either base. Within the center is the Museum of Westward Expansion, exhibits on the history of the St. Louis riverfront, and tram loading and unloading areas. Tucker Theater, finished in 1968 and renovated 30 years later, has about 285 seats and shows a documentary (Monument to the Dream) on the Arch's construction. Odyssey Theater, designed by Cox/Croslin Architects, Robert Cox and Charles Croslin, was completed in 1993 and has 255 seats. It was the first 70 mm film theater to be located on National Park Service grounds and operated by the NPS. The theater runs films from a rotating play list. Also located in the visitor center are retail operations run by the Jefferson National Parks Association, a not-for-profit partner.

A bronze standing full-length portrait of Thomas Jefferson, done by A. Lloyd Lillie, a nationally renown sculptor, stands inside the entrance of the Museum. The casual pose represents the ease with which Jefferson was able to move seamlessly among his many interests and areas of expertise. He was a president, statesman, ambassador, architect, farmer, and a framer of the Declaration of Independence. The standing pose illustrates his tireless efforts for his young, developing, and independent country.

My Holiday

Last holiday I didn’t go anywhere, I just stayed on my house and… went to school a couple time to took Sp. Yes… I didn’t pass the math class, so I went to school a couple times. The test didn’t go so well… I still didn’t understand some of the question.

Even though i took Sp, it didn’t really interrupted my holiday… I enjoyed going to school, some of my friend also went to school.. but they had an extraculicular activity.. not like me. When I was home.. I just played some game, chatting, and surfing the internet.. I tried not to stress because the last semester.. so I should have fun on the holiday.. but I will try hard to get better on the next semester.

I also went to the cinema to watched the Star Wars.. it’s a really great movie with a great story. The Kylo’s Lightsaber is so cool with a  couple hand guard. And surprisingly… for me.. the person who not really into Star Wars.. I surprised that Kylo would kill his father, Han Solo… man.. that’s so pathetic.

And a couple days later.. I went to cinema again… I watched Pay The Ghost.. Nicholas Cage is on that movie.. It’s about His son was kidnapped by the ghost on Halloween.. but His son is not the only one.. there’re many children was kidnapped. It’s a good movie.. but I don’t really like horror movie haha.

And at the almost end of the holiday, I was interested to play Dota 2, on the first dota, I didn’t really like it though, I didn’t really know how to play. But, my sister played dota, and I saw he, it’s pretty fun, then I tried it.. I was amazed.. how could… the last time I played it, it’s not this interesting (This maybe happened because I didn’t really like a loser as before lol).

The gameplay is sooooo long.. one game is about 40 minutes. But, it’s so fun…(and it’s getting more fun if your hero is super powered). But, my sister was going for a week.. and still… she brought her laptop.. so I cant play dota on home right now..

Well.. its not a really interesting holiday.. I was so bored.. but now I can play dota a bit.. haha

Museum of The Asian-African Conference

It is located on Jl. Asia Afrika No. 65, It is near Gedung Merdeka.. This museum is memorabilia of the Asian-African Conference, The Museum is still part of Gedung Merdeka. The man who had idea to build this museum is Prof. Dr. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja, S.H., LL.M. Then, this building officially opened on 24th April 1980 in conjunction with the 25th years of Asian-African Conference. And.. it still open untill now..

There are many things we can learn from history.. it still our history.. the big world political history.. We held a big conference in bandung.. we make The Asian-African becom together as unity..

We should proud of it..

My New Friend

Hi!

Now, i will introduce my friend, his name is Muhammad Rifqi Anhar.
He is usually called Rifqi or Anhar.
He was born on 22nd May 2000 (5 days before my birthday:D)
He lives at Jl. Keadilan IX No. 26
He is my classmate.. that means.. we're on the same school!
He want to be success in everything.. well, that's kinda hard... but, keep on it!
He is a really serious person.. he has no expression.. (You should more "santai", Santai.. mhehe)

His hobby is playing games! Me too! We should play games together someday..
And He like Music! Me too! i like music very much.. not actually.. i just like some genre.. haha
And He plays guitar like i do.. and he is left-handed... wow..
He also likes reading.. hhmm.. me too.. sometimes..
He likes Automotive, Biology and Technology..

Introduction

My name is Fladio, i'm 15 years old, i have 2 siblings and live happy together. I want to be a doctor someday, i want to help people, because when we help people.. there's special feelings that nobody can buy, that priceless, and beside that i'm sure it would be a great job. My hobby is playing guitar, whenever i feel bored i always play guitar, i'm not that good, but i can play the song i like, some of it.

I also like playing games, i only play a simple game, it's just for refreshing from my routine everyday.

My other hobby is reading, i just read what i like to read, article, encyclopedia, comic, and etc. But i dont like an old thick book about history, it's boring, but sometimes i like to read that kind of book, when the stories are interesting for me.

I have wasted many times before, and having a chance to study at SMAN 3 Bandung... i will never miss this chance, i'll give anything i got to be more intelligent, sociable, and useful for other people. I'll try to be a better person, and make my family, my friends, and all people around me proud. Thanks to Allah SWT for everything i got now.
